We also have both landline and cell phones. If the number isn't programmed into my cell phone, it doesn't get answered. The landline is a different story. We don't have caller id, so we always answer the phone or the answering machine picks up. If it turns out to be a computer, I put the phone on speaker and just let it play until the computer hangs up. If it's a live person, I simply tell them to remove my number from their call list. I figure the longer I keep either computer or person on my line, the less time it/they have to bother someone else. LOL.

If it’s a computer they are calling thousands of people at once because with VOIP they are only limited by the amount of bandwidth their internet connection has.
