What was Kim Foxx thinking when she dismissed/dropped charges, and why did she not understand that doing so would lead to public blowback and a pr fiasco? I don't live in Chicago so there may be nuances here I don't get by virtue of not being familiar with the players - sort of how I have some grasp on politics in Arizona surrounding a figure such as former Sheriff Joe Arpaio that others here may not have given they don"t live in Arizona - that said, though......zi just don't get it. And I'm glad this Kim Foxx has little support. This was a seriously bad call on her part. Rob
Without knowing her reasons, I would say that dropping the charges is a way to save taxpayers money. Not all crimes are prosecuted even when they are slam dunk winnable. A crime like this is pretty minor and what are the consequences anyway? It is much ado about nothing.

I'm not going conservative or batting for the other team politically all of a sudden. That said, this one time on this one issue, the conservative take is saner. Much saner. Even I can see that. Surprise! Rob

I think you missed my point. It's not that the conservative take is saner, it's that the reasonable response is saner and you identify that with conservatives. That's why there's hope for you yet.

I donít believe the whole ridiculous incident can be broken down on conservative/liberal lines. Unless someone is totally blinded by ideology, a preference for truth over falsehood, dignity over mendacity, and justice over privilege would not need to be a matter of politics.

It is the tragedy of our times that so many assume our politics inform our ethics rather than the other way around.
