I liked it.
I hear the cancel culture warriors and decency gatekeepers aren’t happy with him.
I started watching a Dave Chapelle video earlier this week but didn’t finish it. It wasn’t this video but I did like what I saw.
Well he certainly seems to have thrown down the gauntlet to the people who sucked the funny out of late night and cable TV and turned college comedy tours into self-criticism sessions.
Someone told me Netflix is paying him sixty million bucks. For that kind of money, the New Yorker and Salon.com can be as outraged as they like.
Watching the video, I don't get the laughter at the start about this person being French, and how he pronounces the name? Is "Juicie" some kind of homophobic slur?
What a sad event, that this guy did this in the first place, and that the police were called out and wasting all those resources over a hoax.
If DC is really making 60 million dollars on this, that's pretty sad, too.
I didnt think the Frenchification of Jussie Smollett was funny either, but I interpreted that to be a soft opening on the Smollet incident to get the audience warmed up in a kind of sly camaraderie “now We all know who I am really talking about” vibe.
The rest of Chappelle’s bit was funny.
Why is it sad he makes a lot of money?
I have been watching the Dave Chapelle canon on Netflix.
He is great. I wish every black child, especially boys, had Dave for their father. Our society would be so much better off as would the kids. He is a strong man and honest about racism but realistic as well.
I see he will be doing a couple of fundraisers for Yang.
