I have a Chase Amazon card so points go to amazon purchases only. I pay it off monthly but don't use it for everything like some do. Writingone huge check a month would be too much of a shock

I make more money on the balance on my home heating oil account than some bank accounts. I think the small oil company does not follow the interest rate trends of the Federal Reserve

I have one credit card that like most of you, I pay off monthly and have done so for many years. A couple of years ago I switched cards, but within the same company, to take advantage of a rewards card. One feature it has is you can choose one area (groceries, gas, online shopping etc) to receive 3% back. I chose online shopping because I order my cat litter, food, etc from Chewy and this is a big chuck of my monthly expenses! You can change the category at any time. The card has no monthly fees and I received a cash bonus for taking it, so to me it was a win-win situation. I treat a CC just as I would cash in my pocket, or a check I would write. No temptation to spend more because of it.
