The Meditations by Marcus Aurelius (working on self discipline for weight lifting)

I've been interested in anthropology, so Im trying to get a college syllabus? Text books? for that subject. Being out of work is going to put that off, it doesnt look cheap.

Oh, rereading all of Edgar Rice Buroughs, on audiobook.

My town library closed, and that sucks.
You're in IL, as am I. They're ALL closed.

I'd investigate the digital offerings your library might offer. I've been getting eBooks from mine. Amazon also has a lot of free Kindle books. I'd highly suggest checking them out. You just have to filter for the free books. Then there's Project Gutenberg, with all free eBooks. Lots of classics.

You consider Marcus Aurelius to NOT be cerebral? Sheesh...

I finally finished Little Women from Gutenberg. I wanted to read it after seeing the movie which actually followed the storyline quite well. I thought that I had read it many years ago but really enjoyed the book this time through. A number of comments here were criticizing the casting of Laurie and I agree that he was not quite right for the role. I was puzzling what might have worked better without a conclusion.

Lol. Ok, 90% not so cerebral.

I had no idea I could get ebooks from the library. I have a work ipad, maybe I can figure it out. Thank you!

    Our libraries are closed too.
I'm reading "Townie," a memoir by Andre Dubus III (author of "House of Sand and Fog" and"Garden of Last Days"). It is sad that divorce made him and his siblings grow up in rather impoverished circumstances, where they would have been solidly middle-class if the family had remained intact. He was very much at risk for a wasted life and an early death, but managed to find himself and turn his life around.

That was a great book, Rosa, especially if you are a fan of his father's fiction, as I am.
It did make me dislike his father, however.

Bookbub is a great resource for ebooks. You set it up by preference and get a daily email with titles you might like, from free to about $3. I usually draw the line at $2, unless it's something I really want. I put pricier ones on hold at the library.

Mine aren't either, I finished The First Law trilogy a few months ago and will probably start The Age of Madness series soon.

Definitely - a great writer but a crummy father and husband.
