Just finished The Sparrow and I liked it, although it's very long. Deciding whether I want to read the sequel; my library doesn't have it so I'd have to buy it.
Read the Sea of Trolls trilogy and enjoyed the first two books. The third felt repetitive so I mostly skimmed.
Now reading The Story of a Marriage, pretty good so far.
Is anyone hitting a place where all reading is boring? Like I’ve read this storyline a million times before and nothing is new.
Maybe I’m just getting well enough to feel boredom ...
I'm not. The senior lady I grocery shop for had run out of stuff to read. Loaned her some light fiction I have. She also loves history so she's starting to work her way through my David McCullough books. I've got plenty more that she wouldn't have considered on her own, so she's got plenty to read.Originally Posted by Tammy
I find with other sources of excitement shut down reading is more interesting. TV on the other hand seems repetitive and boring. I have a list of 154 books I want to read after I finish the 11 I am reading now. I only report on the better ones here to avoid boring you all.
I have to admit I am starting nonfiction books and not finishing. I used to love to read but ??? I am still reading and learning from nonfiction though.
I have at least a couple thousand eBooks to choose from, and quite a variety of genres, so I doubt I'll get bored anytime soon.
If I do, I can always browse YouTube. I mentioned on another thread that I've been working my way through two seasons of History Cold Case, wherein centuries' old remains are investigated by an intrepid band of scientists. I would be thrilled if there were more presentations like this available.
What I'm finding is that I enjoy discovering a new concept/idea/story, but am not all that interested in all the details. More and more I skip over the long descriptive paragraphs.
Tammy - Have you read Where the Crawdads Sing? I found that so refreshing! It just took me to a new place and I was sad to finish the novel.

I think there are a lot of mediocre or poorly written books out there lately. I have started quite a few and not been able to finish them.
I just finished The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman. Interesting topic/story, but I had some trouble getting through the middle parts. Got to the end, which turned more to it being a love story, so it got a bit of redemption at the end.
Now reading Kinfolk by Pearl S. Buck.
