    January 2020 Frugals

Here we are again another month and another year.
I am sure we could all use a little belt tightening?
    I know I could.

Starting the year off right Jan. 01/2020

--ate leftovers from the fridge all day (after having company
for 3 days there was more then enough to feed me.
--sorted coupons and tossed the outdated ones
--Set up all my spreadsheets for the new year.
And, yes I am going back to a more detailed accounting of
what and when I spend money. At least for a few months.
Finished up all of last years and realized I spent a little too
    much money last year.

Yesterday I added up what we spent and we were right on target. We didn’t spend any money from our savings. We don’t spend anymore at holiday time than any other time of the year.

Starting a no-spend year for clothes, shoes, jewelry, etc.

I let a DSW coupon expire. $0 spent is better than $20 off $49 or more.

--Volunteer 4 hours Thur and brought lunch, snack and tea
with me. Bought NO Snacks. I volunteer in a snack/tuck shop
and it is very difficult to not be tempted by the snacks...lol
---returned empty wine bottles and did not buy any.
To be honest I still have some from the holidays but, that
    wouldn't always stop me.
--spent a $10.00 bonus card from Rexall and only went over $1.00
Kleenex, lip balm, for the cold season (all on sale)...boy do I have one.
--doing exercise from a YouTube video
    --reading from the library
--got a coupon for a Free NYC Fries and picked it up for grandson.
--supper tonight was a long lost chili from the freezer and it
    was yummy!
My goal for the winter is to lose my last 12 lbs I NEED to be serious!

--cooked the last bought on sale Turkey today
--took it apart and ready to serve tomorrow
putting the carcass in the freezer ready to make soup.
I now have 5 carcasses in the freezer since Canadian Thanksgiving.
Yes they were a great price but, that was way too many.
I will be eating soup for the next 3 months....lol
--Turkey with mushrooms, pasta and sour cream (due date close) was supper

Did not receive my birthday coupon from Bob's and did not call for it because it always leads me to spend more than the $10 off I get.

I haven't left the cabin since Thursday!

last night? Well, I was craving pasta. Turns out it was national Spaghetti Day. So, ratatouille from the freezer, some rotini pasta from the cupboard, and some mozzarella from the freezer. YUM!

Friday I made whole wheat french bread. We must also be in the mood for bread. Breakfast this morning will finish off that loaf!

Growing my own sprouts (fenugreek), adding to store-bought salad greens. (I like young fenugreek sprouts combined with spinach leaves and little bitty tomatoes.)
