    Happy Lunar New Year!

Wishing joy and happiness to all!

We shall celebrate at home with some hot and sour soup, and dumplings.

We are off to a Scottish dinner in honor of Robert Burns who actually sounds like a horrible person). But it’s a yearly ritual for this group we belong to. Actually it’s fun with whiskey tasting, great dinner and Scottish bagpipes, etc. I think it’s held all over the country.

A few years ago my nicimos and I were in San Francisco on the occasion of the lunar new year. To be more precise, we were in a second storey window in the Bar Drake in the Sir Francis Drake Hotel, overlooking the parade route. I felt extremely lucky to be there. It seemed that the entire population was either parading or watching the parade pass. As I recall, the night was chilly, so it was a privilege to be indoors, watching the spectacle through a tall window. We shared our window perch with a lovely couple from New Zealand. I was able to interest them in trying a Brandy Old Fashioned.

Tonight to all I wish a healthy and lucky Year of the Rat!

    Teacher Terry,

    M' head's a nest o' Robbie Burns quotes.

    For a' that,
    an' a' that,
it's coming yet for a' that,
    that Man to Man,
    the world o'er,
shall brothers be for a' that.

YouTube has a most entertaining performance of Auld Lang Syne, by the Concord (MA) Band. Oh, to play that Glockenspiel!
