Tough decision. Less driving would be a major consideration for me who is a morning person as well. Gas saving would increase revenue as well.

Sometimes, it helps to look at other aspects. Do you and DD get along well? Will this give you both a cherished time together to lift each other's spirits when needed? What other benefits come with these times outside of the work.

If you take day shift could you make your doc appts for 4 pm and not have to take time off?

No pay differential that I'm aware of. Current VA drs office hours are 8 to 4 M-F. Work would be 35 minutes and VA is 35-40 minutes away, making getting a late day appointment rather difficult. DD and I get along well and she is okay with me working at the same place. And, chances are we will not see each other during work hours.

I would simply take a piece of paper and write the pros and cons of each shift in a different column and see how it appears when you've got it down on paper.

As a total morning person, my brain starts to shut down around 2 and at 5 dont make me do anything important. But a lot of that is 31 years of training with always having an office job and getting to work early.

I worked 2nd shift for years; it was my favorite. I would advise you to go with your instincts.

Thank you, everyone, for all the feedback. I really appreciate it.

Finally some movement... interview this week and one next week. I'm just so surprised how much things have changed in the job-searching arena. Unless a company wants to interview, there is barely acknowledgement of even an application being submitted, let alone being rejected or accepted. Things will say "Pending" for months on end.

Yes, I had that experience as well during my search. Good luck!
