Early voting caucuses are different. You line up and when it’s your turn the volunteers input your top 3 choices. On caucus day it works like IL said.

The Iowa caucuses have been kind of a mess for awhile, but this year it was a mess multiplied by 10.
But in 2016:

It's looking more and more like Trump vs. Biden. I owe it to my Austrian grandfather ( who said something to my Mother in regards to voting in 1960 that has always stuck with me since I heard it) and the 85006 to vote Democrat and I will as I despise Trump. But it woukdn't be hard to just not vote this time around were it mot my my Grandfather's wise words and my involvement in my neighborhood. Biden is not my idea of a wise choice for the nomination. i did not vote last Tuesday. And it probably matters because it in the back of my mind it seems like the primaries are when third parties get some juice for future recognition. So I should’ve gone in to grab a libertarian ballot and submit it. But I was out of town and didn’t really feel like rushing back to vote.
What I meant was that Rob suggested he's not going to vote at all, which *is* throwing his vote away. I'm suggesting that rather than not voting, he should make his displeasure known by voting for someone he does believe in, and well who knows, maybe enough other people feel the same way.
