    Favourite love songs

Locally, we have a community sing-song about once a month with a theme. This month was Valentine's Day theme with lots of love songs. It is really fun to sing songs, old and new, seeing them fresh and new. I discovered that I really treasure this John Denver song sung by John and Placido Domingo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3YnfCH7LNcM

I've been humming it to myself when walking the dog this morning so had to listen when I got back home and focus on the lyrics which are lovely.

Do you have a favourite love song?

L'Abitudine by Andrea Bocelli (nearly anything in Italian or Spanish by Bocelli), Eres Tu by los Mocedades, I'd Rather Go Blind by Etta James, Pour Que te M'aimes Encore by Celine Dion (nearly anything in French by Dion), and Different Drum by Linda Ronstadt, just because. I'm a fool for European love songs, clearly.

ETA: forgot Sweet Thing by Chaka Khan. Also, to give a nod to country-western, I Should Have Called by Eddy Raven and Jolene by Dolly Parton.

A favorite of mine as well, but I'd go with Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers as the most favorite.

Love, love, love that song, Alan! Not only because it's cute and a great song, but because that's my son and DIL's "party piece"--he plays the guitar and they do the duet.

But for decades I have also loved Billy Joel's I Love You Just the Way You Are.

Or if you're into Irish folk, I love this Maura O'Connell song, Love You In the Middle. The music is great but the lyrics are awesome.

Alan, one of my favorite John Prine songs, only beat by Crazy as a Loon.
Could go with all the typical answers:
    True Companion, Marc Cohn
She's always a Woman to me. Billy Joel
When a Man loves a Woman, Percy Sledge
Your Eye's Peter Gabriel (one of two songs written for Rossana Arquette)
Something, George Harrison (one of three songs written for Patty Boyd)

Or something like Inflatable You by Tim Minchin, for single people
    or the wedding song:

I have some post-love songs I like including "The Thrill Is Gone" by B. B. King, "I Don't Wanna Fight" by Tina Turner and "Sail On" by the Commodores, if anyone is into anti-Valentine's.

I had forgotten Sail On. Loved that one, and the Commodores in general.

Jolene is pretty much an anti-Valentine song.
Amy Winehouse's Back to Black is another.

    And here's a link to L'Abitudine. Heavenly.

My divorce was finalized on Christmas Eve this year, so I'm all keen :-)

There is great diversity which is kind of fun to see.
