    Interesting! Does this start a new calendar year for them? How do you celebrate it? There are so many cultural/national celebrations to enjoy.

    Yes, I guess it does. I don't celebrate it beyond sending prayers and wishes to those at my temple, HHDL, etc. One of my children drives the current resident monk to English classes and has been invited - along with others - to the New Year dinner he is making. I'm sure I will hear all about the foods and, hopefully, some celebrations and customs.

    I used to think the Tibetan New Year followed the Lunar New Year calendar, but I have since learned that is incorrect.
