I'll keep my masks around and might even consider wearing them during the next cold and flu season, assuming we're out of Covid issues.
On my last shopping outing they had hand sanitizer on sale. I missed the unit price, but the sign said buy 10 and save $59.95. I wash my hands routinely at home but may discard my hand sanitizer
oh yea. as for hand sanitizer, it seems prudent too, covid wasn't much spread by fomites, but other things must be (or else why the worry about fomites in the first place?). But yea it would be some sanitizer in my first aid kit mostly. Does that stuff even ever go bad?In addition to the substantial toilet paper supply!
I've never felt any need to be particularly hygienic before ever (yes I wash my hands) and probably won't soon. Well other than what was always my most disease spreading activity before: preparing a raw chicken.
People come to work sick every year, they shouldn't, it was part of what terrified me about covid and the office - there is absolutely NO custom in any workplace I've ever been of actually staying home when you are sick AT ALL. And we get so few sick days anyway (the legal minimum in this state), it only reinforces it. There is no precedence for people not infecting the whole office when sick, so why should I expect even covid to change u.s. sick behavior for the better, at least only a few months in? But for colds in the future I will keep a mask around as well, for sure, because I expect sick people coming to the office to keep happening.

Actually, it can. Heat, particularly, affects the chemistry and the sanitizing strength of the hand sanitizers most of us buy (60-70% alcohol). We used to leave a bottle in the cars during the cooler months but cart the bottle around with us now that it's hot.But yea it would be some sanitizer in my first aid kit mostly. Does that stuff even ever go bad?
On the other hand, we still have at least half a gallon to use...

Would the sanitizer work for cleaning tools like pruners between plants?

Well, it's mostly alcohol (this stuff is at least 70% iirc), so many places where you could use alcohol, I guess you could use this. Depends on added ingredients, I would think (like aloe vera).
A quick Web search for what to do with leftover hand sanitizer shows uses as disparate as sanitizing your mobile phone, cleaning dry-erase boards, removing labels from items, stopping mosquito bites from itching, getting tree sap off your hands, cleaning stainless-steel appliances, and removing stains from tough upholstery like in cars and child car seats. Who knew? It will take us a while to work through it, but it beats lighting an alcohol-fueled fire in the outside fireplace. (j/k; no idea if that's a dumb idea. I'd look it up first)

Interesting to know. Thanks

Today a man at the entrance to the supermarket was trying to get people to go covid vaccines in another area of the parking lot.
The directional arrows on the floors are gone and each week fewer wear masks. It was a little celebratory getting back to normal. One shopper was playing salsa on some type of device the entire time he was shopping.
Grocery shopping this morning and my favorite whole wheat flour was, again, out of stock. There were other brands there, so I don't think there is a shortage going on. Other than that, I'm not seeing any deficits starting up again. I do see prices still rising here and there. Not much, but still going up. Some folks still masking in the store, others not. Most everyone still wipes down their carts - at least that I have seen when entering/exiting.
