    Project Runway

The two other sewing threads on here (sewing threads ) got me thinking about my little Singer Heavy Duty that's been gathering dust for years. And that maybe this is the perfect time to give it some life. Poor thing.

I've run out of books to read and am trying not to buy anything that requires delivery; our poor UPS drivers are having a hard time keeping up with deliveries and our shelter in place just got extended through May. I have plenty of fabric and thread for playing around. I've always been irrationally intimidated by sewing but I just started watching Project Runway and it's making me want to have a go at it. Mainly because they have such a tight schedule that they just go to town. That's what I need. I've tried youtube tutorials and for whatever reason I just can't get into it that way.

I want to give myself the reward of watching the show as long as I'm doing some sewing. Which brings me to my question. What is the best streaming option for watching Project Runway? It looks like Hulu has some of the seasons but I can't find if it has all of them, or on which of their plans they offer it. I bought one episode to try out the show but buying it by show or season is pretty expensive. Right now I have Netflix (not available on it), but I'm willing to do a monthly subscription somewhere else to have access to the show.

And for you Runway fans, do you have a favorite season?

I am sorry to say that I do the unfrugal thing and I buy Project Runway seasons from Amazon. I buy very little video from Amazon that doesn’t come with a prime membership, but that’s one of them.

I would have to think on what my favorite seasons are, but Christian Siriano in an early one, 3?4? Was a force to be reckoned with.

I LOVE Project Runway. We've followed it for years, but I have to say, this past year was great because of a not-so-young designer!! She was SO inspiring. Nancy Volpe-Beringer did some minor sewing (Halloween costumes) while raising kids and trying to patch together a living as a single mom. She wound up working as an education administrator for a teacher's association for years and then found herself in a position where she could retire with a pension.

So she thought one day (when she was 58) "If I could go back to being young again, what would I want to learn?" And she thought, "Fashion design!" So she applied for a degree in fashion design and graduated and then started her own business and then wound up on Project Runway (I think she was 62/63 when the show taped). She is my hero.

This year, we are watching Making the Cut, the Amazon knock-off (with Heidi and Tim Gunn). We're still feeling our way around the slightly different format.

IL - Those are like $25 each. Not a bad investment of course, for as much content as you get. That's like two movie tickets cost-wise and you get 12-16 hours of watching? But I'm hoping I can get a monthly for $6 or so and just cancel when I'm done. Do you ever re-watch the shows you already have?

Catherine - what service did you use for Runway? I'm curious to see how you like the new show.

The new show Making the Cut is free with Amazon Prime and they have a BIG budget and are showing it off. The designers in the game are quite sophisticated.

No I dont rewatch much of it. I came to Project Runway late, so by the time I got here quite a few seasons were free. They come and go.

You can nearly always find Project Ru way episodes for Free on Youtube, but those are subject to copyright police coming along to sweep them off.

We just DVR'd the seasons as they were airing, so I haven't had to go back and run them off of any platform. We have cable, and they were on Bravo most seasons and then they moved to Lifetime for a couple of seasons.

Netflix has a series called Next in Fashion that I enjoyed. The Project Runways started on Bravo, then moved to Lifetime and then back to Bravo. You might want to look into SlingTV. Catherine, I found Nancy very inspiring, too! I was rooting for her all season.

Ok, no wonder I can't find a simple answer. Thanks for that. I will look into SlingTV. I don't have cable.

I will check out the other show on Netflix!

YouTube is introducing a streaming service called, predictably, YouTube TV that looks interesting.

I just found this interesting service MSN provides: they give you a whole list, with prices, of where to watch TV shows.

So I randomly picked Season 4 of PR, the one IL spoke of, with Christian Siriano, and here's what came up:
