We did Blue Apron for a few months, until the summer when we transitioned to local produce. It was great from the standpoint of eliminating decision-making at dinner time, providing really tasty, unique, healthy foods, and providing clear instructions. It was fun from that standpoint. Typically, DH and I are horrible co-workers in the kitchen, but we were able to work well together on Blue Apron meals.
Downside was the expense--they say that the meals work out cheaper than buying the ingredients separately, but I don't think they account for the fact that if you buy sesame oil once, that does make it expensive, but you actually usually wind up using it many times, which drives the cost per meal down. Our regular food budget for some reason didn't go down that much because of the 3 meals we got from Blue Apron, so our food expenditure went up about 25%.
I kept a lot of the recipes, because they were really good, and I loved exploring some of the ancient grains they used in many recipes. If it weren't for Blue Apron, I would have never had farro.
