    Rand Paul, Political Maverick

Another reason I like this guy, who just happens to be a doctor:

Love Rand. The only politician on the national stage I give money to. I saw him twice in St. Louis in about a year.

You see his facial hair? He grew that beard when he was in the basement of his home recuperating from COVID-19. He said they threw food down to him but they never sent any shaving equipment down.

Back in the 80’s when I was a teenager Denver passed into law their first smoking ordinance, making it illegal to smoke in grocery stores. Of course the tv station sent a reporter and cameraman to the store near the station to interview smokers. It didn’t take long before they found an old man who said ‘I’ve been smoking since I was 8 years old. I’ll be damned if anyone is going to tell me where I can or can’t smoke.

His understanding of things is a bit flawed, for a doctor:

He certainly nicely-played the recent racial disturbances for some more air-time:

What do you mean by this? Rand Paul went back to the Senate after being tested for coronavirus. What that Clickbait article didn’t tell you is that he didn’t know his test results and he thought it was highly unlikely he had it. As soon as he knew he had it he quarantined himself.

As far as wanting to more carefully define lynching rather than rush through a piece of legislation, I seem to remember you here having lectured us about words having meaning. Running through a feel good “lynching is bad “ bill seems to me to be the epitome of racial politics.

Still love Rand. Wish he would stand up more often to the man in the White House because there are plenty of times he does not agree with the non-conservative policies coming out of that place.
