    Because it's nothing more than a circle of chicken wire. There is no top. I am afraid that fresh food scraps will attract critters, so I turn it under a little bit, that's all. I do plan on getting a better system, but I probably won't get around to it until next year.

    FYI - I'm sure folks know that there are many DIY compost bins, etc. out on youtube. Personally, I like this one. I can see myself rolling it around the backyard - LOL.
