    New Ancestry DNA results

did anyone else get an updated, revised DNA results statement from Ancestry where they reconfigure your percentages? Mine just changed a lot--my Norwegian got added to my Swedish, so I'm more Swedish than I thought. But my Irish disappeared completely and now they are saying 33% Scottish. Since I have ancestors who came from Ireland, I figure they were Scots Irish and went to Ireland first then the US.

That's a lot more Scottish than I thought and no more Irish. And no Norwegian at all, just Swedish. But they did add in the Shetland Islands on my map, and the islands between Sweden and Latvia, so that is pretty cool.

Did you do another test or is this just a free "re-do" based on the information they saved on you? Interesting.

No other test; periodically they revise their results and say they are "more precise."
I think they correlate genetic strands with areas, and the more people who take the test, the more they can find the areas.

My English went away, and now I'm 61% Irish and 32% Scottish, 5% European Jew and 2% Norwegian. Also I have a lot of New England settlers--MA, ME, VT, CT.

This post pushed me to buy a 23 and me kit. My brother and my cousins have had this analysis and they sent me the results and that’s been good enough for me. But since I’m sitting around in covert time with not much else to do, I can do this.

Catherine, that is amazing, that your English went away and you are 61% Irish! I don't know how much you were before, but wow. Maybe you got my Norwegian, haha. It's funny Terry's didn't change that much--I did Ancestry, and she did 23 and me, though. Maybe that's a difference there? IL, will you do 23 and me and not Ancestry? I don't know which one is better. I can vouch for Ancestry's accuracy though because all these cousins turned up and we share ancestors I know about, so it was reliable--it shows how close a cousin it is, and it has been right about that, too.

Ancestry has a bigger following so more people do it. I didn’t have big changes.
