Yes I find both pictures of drinks and food stupid.
Well, when I try a new recipe that is different, I will email a photo to family members who will email photos of their trials and successes. FB makes no sense to me but could it be a form of similar sharing?

I don't get the lovingly curated booze photos, but drinks are so expensive now it's like having a record of wretched excess.
Some of the more exotic mixed drinks do look good to me, I admit. But not that good.

Definitely - I'll drink to that! Occasionally I'll post a picture if DH creates fancy cocktails for us or we discover a new beverage.

A friend is doing a food/drink tour of New Orleans right now. Four meals a day with small plates and sharing. She posts the meals and drinks and menus for those of us who cannot or will not travel. The couple is in the food business and we are learning a lot.
But seeing how much a few others drink (because of all their posts) is sometimes disconcerting when I realize they are drinking and driving.
Pictures of meals at interesting restaurants would be ok with me. I appreciate the pictures of menu items tied to Yelp reviews.
But honestly, I only have a handful of FB friends and I turn off their feed anyway. My feed is full of flowers and bulldogs from those organizations.
Mine is full of cats and politics--from the sublime to the ridiculous.
