Eating under World War II rationing guidelines FB group

This FB group is really interesting. They are eating like they’re living in 1943 under US rationing guidelines. It’s quite complicated! I may do this. Not sure, but I love following along.

There were foods and other items that would suddenly not be available for a time. One of the members mentioned it made it much easier to deal with the shortages we’ve encountered this year during Covid.

If you choose to join, look in the group files area. Lots of good info there including the rationing specifics.

I refuse to squeeze yellow dye into a sack of margarine. That might have been amusing when i was a kid, but it holds no appeal now.

There's also the 40s experiment. She's English. We like the veggie pie.

One of my favorite Bugs Bunny cartoons ends with a reference to rationing. When I was a kid I was baffled by it, until later when I learned what an "A card" was.

The joke doesn't occur till the very end, but watch the whole thing anyway. It's hilarious!
