Twenty plus years ago I had my gall bladder removed - it was routine even back then. Recently my youngest had the same surgery - but it did not go well.
Simple day surgery has turned into 3 post surgery trips to the ER, the latest via the ambulance, and I think we are at day 18 in the hospital.
She is being transfer to the major teaching hospital in the state to see if they can help her. To say the least it has been a nightmare. Post surgery she has
been staying with us (when not in the hospital) so her mom can care for her while her husband works.
She is battling duodenitis, pancreatitis, stomach not working, bruised liver, etc. Constant vomiting has led to the post surgery ER visits, being severely dehydrated,
low sodium caused her to have a seizure, and pass out, etc. etc. She now has a TPN bag to receive her nutrients via a picc line. And these are just the highlights
With Covid-19 she is only allowed one visitor a day and it has to be the same person, so she is lonely, so tired of being sick with no end in sight. I have learned way more about the gastrointestinal system that I wanted to know. Her care at the hospital has been good, but there is nothing like being home in your own bed.
I am really ready for 2020 to be over! Praying for a miracle. Everyone says the new hospital has the best doctors in the state and that is what she needs!
