Tybee, What a great solution! Painting an already painted floor with the paint available appeals to me. I've used exterior paint on our interior windows and am quite glad I did. The rug is lovely. I would prefer painted wood to LVP.

I admit, getting rid of the darned paint that I had been carrying around was a big part of the appeal to me, too. I had bought a whole gallon of something 6 years ago when we were painting our house, and then decided I didn't like it--it's a very light sky blue--so we used that in the bedroom, and it's really serene. If it chips, we can touch it up.
I agree!
Tybee, my "reading chair" is a rocking chair and I didn't want it to scratch up the floors. I looked online for a solution and learned that the soft side of a strip of Velcro tape could be applied along the runners. That has been working very well for a couple of years now. I mention this in case you decide you want to place a rocking chair somewhere that you don't have a rug.
That is totally brilliant. If anyone in your house actually likes to rock perhaps as a gag one day you could put the non-soft part of the Velcro on the floor under the runner.
I think this is where I saw it:
