Of course I wish you well, just curious whether your new responsibilities have changed your perspective on some things particular to your new industry. It's been years since you've opined on the subject.

In Phoenix it’s ok to steal grocery carts.

At least, that is a popular narrative.

In light of the fact that we have been losing quality members, I'm going to pass on commenting regarding shopping carts. There's been entirely enough friction around here. I'm choosing not to add to it. Rob

That's good news, Rob! Glad to see you've found a vocation that's been good to you.

Not to pile on; just asking a general (if OT) question: Around here many of the places advise would-be "roamers" that the cart is (somehow) geofenced and will not roll if taken beyond the premises. I will admit to never having tested this in person but the claim seems dubious to me. Is advising that the cart won't work beyond a certain point "security theater" or is it an actual technology some places use?

Yes, our grocery store carts have little locks on their wheels that lock into place when they go beyond the boundaries of the grocery store parking lot.

When we lived in the city ours did too. Occasionally we would find hand baskets on the street (not sure how that is more convenient than using a bag) so we would take them back with us.

A customer of ours from a supermarket came and claimed a cart of theirs that had somehow wound up in our store.
