I hear it’s free now. Much to the disappointment of vendors who were doing very well selling items to all the stranded crews.

Rumors are the Suez situation is leading to toilet paper hoarding again.

That is stupid. Our toilet paper is made here. And the stuff from Asia to the US either goes directly to the west coast. Or through the Panama Canal to the east coast.

That solo sailor stuck for the past four years on board was just released and is back visiting with his family.

Shipping is a tough business between piracy on the high seas, lack of containers, fuel costs, insurance and all the other forces that develop.
As Cicero said, “Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all the others.”

I work in retail and we are experiencing massive back orders and shortages. Prices are increasing it seems like with every order. Freight prices are going up. While most of our customers understand - some get very upset when their orders haven't arrived (like we have any control). :-(

One of our distributor reps told us yesterday that some manufacturers have goods to ship, but are choosing not to ship right now because
the container price has gone up so much, so they are backing off - hoping the price will drop. Another told us some container ships are
not leaving the east because there is no place to dock. Crazy times!

I wonder if the dining room table, chairs and server I ordered on May 30 is in one of those containers...

Fairly sure the refrigerator I ordered in July is on one of those ships. Meanwhile, mine continues to disintegrate… the “freezer” is 40 degrees, the refrigerator is 60.
