Thank you so much for posting this, Dado. I have often thought about seeing the Mardi Gras after a friend from Louisiana told me of her experiences over the years. She moved back to her grand-babies and their families.
This series of photos is amazing in the range from simplicity to elaborate efforts that people have made to continue Mardi Gras despite covid restrictions in large and small buildings. Loved it!

I would love go to Mardi Gras some day - experience the dancing, singing, music, smiles, etc. that seems to infect the whole city. I hope this year is fun for all who participate and that everyone remains safe and healthy while celebrating.

2 years ago we were in New Orleans 4 days before Mardi Gras. We got off the cruise ship and took a city bus tour on the first day and really fun to see everything. People were holding up seats on stilts so their kids were tall enough to see above the crowd.

Went to Mardi Gras once. New Orleans is a spectacle, that's for sure!! What a town!

As for our "Mardi Gras" in preparation for Lent, we're having pasta tonight! I seeded the idea of no carbs for Lent and then DH went to the doctor yesterday and after getting his HbA1c report, he's on board with me. So we're feasting on rotini or fettuccini or linguini--haven't decided which! We don't have any beads to throw at each other, but we'll enjoy.

    Have a Fat Tuesday, everyone!

Uhh, steak and a brussels sprouts dish here. We're seriously out of sync with big celebrations around here.

And in Lancaster County PA people are eating fasnacht today.

Christian immigrants from Germany ("Pennsylvania Dutch") made the donuts to use up their sugar and lard before Lent. The tradition carries on!

So are we. Plus the fact that I've never even heard of some of these things - LOL! Definitely learning things today.
