    Checking out of the media.....

For a few days. Tomorrow the Chauvin trial starts in Minneapolis. Surprise! I am skipping it. I'm still not over January 6th and it's implications - don't need to be following this right now - the trial will proceed just fine without me. Rob

I don't blame you. I was watching news with the focus of a snake charmer for years, but now that the government is on an even keel again, I can relax some.

I only watch the local news or perhaps PBS NewsHour. Most of my news comes from the local all news station, BBC Radio, or the New York Times.

I don’t watch the news but of course I get it multiple places as I’ve said many times. I am Enjoying the respite from all Trump all the time.

I find reading or listening to the news less stressful than watching it.

I have seen the news once, since August 19th, the day my boss died. Not enough time and list of stuff grows.

I used to keep CNN on as background noise all the time, but honestly, I can't stand CNN over the past couple of years. A one-trick pony. Not saying other major TV news outlets aren't also one-trick ponies. All kinds of other things may be impacting the world beside the ONE issue they pursue, but it all goes by the wayside in their quests to pursue the Agenda du Jour.

It's a waste of time. I prefer the folksy local news these days. The weatherman is more interesting to me than Wolf Blitzer and his expert guests.

I think it is a good idea to take a break or shift media focus every now and then. Right now, I'm mainly just reading headlines, usually online, and only going to the article itself if my curiosity is tickled. I would like to shift to a little more world news, though.

Good luck and enjoy your break!

Happy, the BBC website is excellent for international news.
