This is good news, as I used to wear only Hawaiian shirts at my old job and still have lots, had tiki torches before they were cool, and love Martin Denny, Yma Sumac, and Les Baxter.

I've even got Tiki statues in my garden.

Whenever I see tiki torches all I think about is that funny sign in a store explaining what they
are for and ends it with “you racist asshole.”

Love it! Add Arthur Lyman. I have several CDs of his.
My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what I start. So far today, I have finished two bags of M&Ms and a chocolate cake. I feel better already!

And here I thought they were just part of the Mid Century/Atomic Era/Tiki Lounge culture.

Perhaps we have now an obvious example of the potential harm of cultural appropriation.

Lots of folks today are wearing clothing with an Irish motif. Is that cultural appropriation?

Good to know there are other tiki-ites out there. I've not known another and thought I was the only one. That must be how things get going with social media. I'm putting on Arthur Lyman right now. It will be good mood music after our two foot snow a couple of days ago.

I suppose if they’re just drinking Guinness and not chanting ‘Jews will not replace us’ no one will be much offended.
