    There is bitless bridles of various types, not necessarily for missing teeth. There is a certain portion of the horse community that feel that bits are cruel and should be banned . But the reality is, that anything can be used heavy handed, even bitless . The so-called mechanical hackamore works on leverage and they are notoriously dangerous in the wrong hands. I had a horse given to me in 2002 that somewhere in her life ( not the people I got her from) that had a broken jaw that even though healed , the the way her jaw was , was consistent with injury from a mechanical hackamore. I rode her in a bit. She was put down in 2017 at age 29 due to a stroke.

    I could write an entire book on the types of bridles, bits, hackamores etc.
