It occurred to me that you have a regulating body for your industry. Would a phone call asking how one should handle this situation be an option. If someone is badmouthing a peer to employers, would it reflect rather negatively on the integrity of the industry and accreditation process? Or am I not even in the ballpark with this?

This is very bizarre behavior, and it does seem like some kind personal vendetta. I agree that whatever you can do to protect yourself legally, do it.

An ex boyfriend of mine sent me harassing texts and I had to change my number, but he did worse with others. He called a restaurant where another ex girlfriend of his worked stating she had a communicable disease and she lost her job. He also wanted a local woman who had photos on a porn site to go out with him and when she refused he sent pictures from the porn site of her to both the school where she worked and to the local paper, but that woman kept her job. But yes, there are sick and vindictive people out there.

Your work contract that you had your new employer look over, what did it say about contacting coworkers or former coworkers?
You provided a warning, more will cost you money; do you need that stress or expense right now, if not, put her out of your mind, and move on. Your boss told her to pound dirt, don't let her stress you out, your boss didn't.

You're thinking of the non-disclosure agreement from the 13 year job (laid off in March 2020) that the work from home job boss had his lawyer look at. I worked there from August to mid-March. It said nothing about contacting coworkers/former coworkers.

I've blocked her on LinkedIn. I'm not stressing over it. Just think it's damned strange.

So glad that your new job is a good fit.
Some people need to feel powerful and if they no longer are, they try to damage others, just because they need to believe they can.

You are successful, she is not. A life well lived is the best revenge.
