A semi-splurge/pandemic bonus: A neighbor of mine took an extended vacation abroad for the winter of 2019. He asked me to clear the snow and keep an eye on his property for the months he would be gone and he would pay me for my trouble. Well, he couldn't come back in 2020. He's still overseas (I'm not sure he really wants to come back anyway) but his place still needs lawn care and mail collection and such. I totaled up what he owes me and it came out to be enough to trade my old camera in on a new camera and lens. It arrived last week. Haven't had time to play with it much but I'm looking forward to when I can.

Other than that, we really haven't spent money we ordinarily would not have. What I am noticing is that when we need something we just buy it. It doesn't have to be the cheapest thing that gets the job done and we don't seem to want to engage in a lot of hassle to get it. When MiL's iPad stopped charging we brought it to the Apple Store, the Genius declared it beyond repair (she's had it for years), and we bought the current equivalent on the spot. Probably could have saved $20-30 waiting for Amazon to ship one but buying it there made life considerably simpler. There may be more splurging later this year, though, as we look at updating the bathroom and whatever else of the rest of the house we can manage.

Hate those type of "splurges" but am always thankful I have the money to do what is necessary.

$130 for DH and I to go to my 50th high school class reunion--should have been last year, but it was cancelled.

We're splurging on a trip to Chicago next month to see a few friends we haven't seen in a few years. SO's employer has a new hotel out on the Navy Pier so we're staying there. In a fancy pants corner room. Thank goodness he "knows people" because I'm sure this room would be stupid expensive if we were paying full price for it. I'm still getting used to the idea that we'll be on a plane in a couple of weeks from thursday...
