    My dream house

There are a few of these in Beaverton. I used to drive by them wistfully, not even knowing that their architect(s) were notable; I just liked the look of them. This one is lovely and affordable:

Interesting! Not sure it's something I would buy, but definitely interesting.

I think Eichler and Rummer both built houses in Beaverton. One was the mentor of the other, maybe? Love that it's so open to the surroundings, but the excitement of that might fade quickly, replaced by a pervasive feeling of being watched.

Really nice. All those windows and appearent lack of decent ceiling insulation probaly wouldn't fly in the cold winters here but good ethetics and maybe suited for the local climate. I have a book called, "Atomic Ranch" that features some Eichler homes and other styles of MCM. It's eye candy for me.

I took the long way home today through a few newer neighborhoods in the upper middle class range, but nothing super fancy. I didn't see a single ranch in the bunch. I guess you have to go back a few decades to get a nice ranch with a yard.

Yes, a mild climate and affordable electricity make these houses relatively practical.

Is in Portland, but it’s affordable for Portland, too. I have to wonder what the neighborhood is like because just this morning I was looking at Portland real estate, and a generic boring ranch with three bedrooms and one bath goes for this amount of money.

I’ve always wondered what it’s like to really live in one of these houses. I would not mind the windows open to the forest because I live that way anyway. I just don’t draw my blinds and I live in the inner city.

The neighborhood is a nice middle-class one--at least it was last time I was there.
