    So.....Mexico City it is.

For my first vacation since leaving hospitality. Anyone here been there? Any tips/pointers?

We're looking at the Hotel Gillow around the corner from the Zocalo and I know to visit the incredible Anthropology Museum.

The hotel has tours, too - one to Taxco sounds very interesting.

I have heard this, yes. I found an Argentine steakhouse I'd like to try - and since the four star Hotel Gillow is only $47.95 a night, there's room for the steakhouse. But I'm thinking maybe you mean street food? I'm totally open to that.

It's been forty years since I've visited. I'm sure the pea soup smog and miasma of raw gasoline fumes mixed with a faint aroma of sewage is history by now.

We got to the anthropology museum just as it was closing. Don't ask about Chapultepec Park. That trip--and the "turista," the icing on the cake--convinced me I was no happy wanderer. I ate better on a curb in Tijuana. I am not bitter.
