The Queen is dead. God save the King

Queen Elizabeth became queen a month before I was born. She has been a constant presence in the background of my life. It feels strange to know that she no longer is part of that background.

I know many people feel this monarchy is irrelevant, but Queen Elizabeth was a remarkable monarch--in terms of the length of her reign and her ability to have, lose and regain the hearts of her people with her consistent service and sense of duty.

I’m very sad. I’ve always been something of an Anglophile. She certainly was steadfast for so long and a constant for some many people.

Oh my. I knew she was going downhill. Did her heart give out?

One minute it was "her doctors are concerned," the next "Queen Elizabeth is dead."
    She served long and well.

And didn’t she carry out activities day before yesterday? Too much for her I guess. The new Prime Minister is the last to be anointed by this Queen.

I think she was going downhill since she got covid. She lived a long life though.

15 Prime Ministers. The first was Churchill. That really gives perspective of her long reign.

I think Prince Philip's passing took the wind out of her sails.
