Your expenses are not going to decrease a lot. Second, Medicare is basically an 80/20 plan. Having to pay 20% of the allowed Medicare cost can really add up. You can get plans to supplement, a very confusing proposition. But, Medicare is not for profit like the big insurers that have massive CEO and executive salaries and huge shiny buildings. They are clear on what they pay for and what they don't. I really wish everyone had access to medicare. Premiums are about $150 per person a month.

Good point about supplemental insurance on Medicare and the 20%. My monthly premium is over 200 dollars, and prescription drugs are another 40. So I'm around 260 for the supplement, on top of the 178 for part B, which is a total of almost 450 a month. Medicare is expensive, too.

Unfortunately, that is probably not an option for you, since they will now step in for self-neglect, and the state will take charge of you.

good point. It truly is a life saver for many seniors, and some qualify for Medicaid as well. Our country has indeed put many people who did honest work and have paid taxes in a fix for sure.
besides many politicians have talked about revising SS and Medicare “entitlements” (as in cutting benefits and increasing premiuns) because they have plenty of money and don’t need to rely on them and too bad so sad for us.

You can arrange for hospice at home; my mother had it.

Any of the Greenhouses should be able to explain on the phone or email what the monthly rate would be for any given level of care. For example, "memory care" in a secure building may involve a different rate than a Green House where "assisted living" residents freely move from room to room.

Also, there is some uniqueness to Green Houses. Some are religious. Some are for veterans (VA). At least 1 Green House takes residents on 3-wheeled cycle rides (pedaled by volunteers)!
