    Duct cleaning?

I get chronic sinus issues in the winter time that seem to coincidently start around the time when furnace use starts. I have some home remedies that help, especially the use of a steam inhaler. Allergies and our cold dry air here are probably factors. I've talked with my primary doctor who wasn't much help and have so far resisted seeing a specialist. I have considered using one of the services that does duct cleaning. Based on their ads there must be all sorts of monsters in the duct works, but have wondered if it's a come on. A cousin has similar problems and had his duct work cleaned. He said it was sort of expensive and didn't help, but that's just a sample size of one.

Has any one had experience with duct cleaning and if it really does anything useful or helpful?

My FAVORITE herbal remedy may help you. DH says it is a miracle taken at the start of a cold or flu. It up is natural and inexpensive. It does not interfere with any medications. It surely would be worth a shot!

Elderberry can help clear sinus infections, it's also a natural diuretic and laxative and can ease symptoms of allergies,” Stafford says. “The flowers can be placed in tea, eaten raw or cooked – it is entirely up to personal preference.

    * I prefer a tincture which I make myself (very easy). When I first heard about elderberry, I would get lozenges. YLMV. Hey, it might be interesting to try elderberry wine?

Roger, I am deeply skeptical of the scare tactics of the duct cleaners except, perhaps, if you have a house full of animals.

Do you have any pets at all?

No pets. Matter of fact pets are out due to pet allergies, which is sort of a bummer. But my house is 70 years old. The previous owners did not have pets, but who knows the rest of the time.
