I have my wood stove blazing and the fan (no heat) on my new heat pump turned on. This is an experiment in terms of how much the heat pump will save. But so far, I'm happy--my November bill was $43 less than my November bill last year and the average temp last year was lower.

Becky, the only place I ever needed a water softener was Kansas because of the hard water. I have never replaced a furnace or hot water heater unless it’s so inefficient that it’s costing much more to operate. I usually wait for them to break but the hot water heater has always been in the basement. Only had one leak and it was very slow so didn’t cause damage which was lucky.

Just got the new bill in that covers November. My 2022 bill is 1/3 LESS than my 2021 bill! $145 savings with the heat pump! So for Oct/Nov, a total of $188 in savings--and the winter has barely started
