I see New York now has a law in place that requires platform providers to maintain systems for collecting and responding to reports of “hateful speech” directed against various protected groups. There being no first amendment exception for such speech, it’s hard for me to see how this law will survive the inevitable legal challenges that will arise.
I’ll admit I have trouble understanding why the class of people who believe they are our rightful cultural gatekeepers care so much about what private providers choose to allow. You can always go elsewhere.
