    Dacyczyning egg prices

I recall that Amy's books had an emphasis on utilizing unit prices of grocery items to find the best deals. Eggs here have at least doubled in price in the past few weeks so we are now paying .45-50 an egg. Sounds ridiculously low so I presume we've been spoiled by low egg prices all along. Accordingly, we only bought one dozen and will use them sparingly. Anyway...I find myself considering unit prices once again since groceries have gotten so high.

I am looking forward to buying eggs. I bought one dozen since 2020, and didn't use them because I was asked to pick them up by/for my now late coworker, late bosses caretaker. She needed a few for a recipe and thought I would finish the rest and I never knew she was done with them.

I haven't had poached eggs since 2019, and they are my favorite way to eat them.

I do not price compare for eggs. I think that as a form of protein, they're relatively inexpensive. I don't want to purchase eggs that are cheap because the chickens come from industrial food lots.

I pay from $4-5 dollars for a dozen eggs that I buy locally. I'd rather cut back on something else.

Avian flu - lots of birds have had to be culled. Lot of people on FB still think that it’s a conspiracy by everyone.

I'm paying about 50 cents per egg for pasture-raised, and I consider it a bargain.

The yucky grocery eggs are $5 a dozen here. The better ones are $8 and up.

My eggs have remained about the same price. But if you buy from the store, it's $8/dozen+ in the local market though.

All eggs sold in my state have to come from cage free chickens, a big government policy I actually agree with.

Eggs here are also cage free but we still mostly buy at the farmers' market from a farmer whose practices we know because he's very proud of his farming methods. (I suppose he could be George Santos'ing his website but he has a big enough operation so that seems unlikely). Frankly his eggs are just better than the ones at Safeway. The shells are stronger, the flavor is better, the yolks a brighter color. Everything about them says "good quality." Like tomatoes eggs are one of those items that is noticeably better if one buys from outside the industrial farming structure.
