We were buying free range chicken eggs from the people next door, until the racoons killed too many of the hens. Have not taken the time to stop at a new place for eggs yet, but there are plenty of back yard hens here so many people have signs out for eggs. If prices keep increasing we may buy chicks in the spring. Love those cute little balls of fluff! At least until they start dusting, then they lose much of their charm, lol.

I buy a dozen eggs and they last for a month. The one time I had eggs from a neighbor with chickens I got food poisoning.

When I was making the daily breakfast dish every Sunday, I would use a dozen eggs just for that. At $5 a dozen, I'm not making it and just having eggs 2-3 times a week. Hopefully the prices will go down soon.

We are now cage free eggs, too. My last rip to WF a few days ago the egg shelves were empty and the clerk was explaining.

They are a good source for food nutrition for people on a limited budget, so it's too bad. But my aversion goes back to around Dan Akyroyds chicken embryo skit. I did buy some for baking over the Holidays and had enough left to make huevos ranchos. That was a treat.

I probably go through about a dozen a week; eggs and ground beef are staples here.

Jewel (major Chicago area chain) had doz large eggs 2/$8. I got two. I eat a lot of eggs. I’ve been having them a lot for dinner lately. I will sauté some veggies (mushrooms, green pepper) and then add three eggs. Good, filling dinner. Yesterday ham steaks were on sale and I got two. Cut up half of one and had it with the mushrooms. Very tasty. I use a lot of veggies.
