    July Frugals

I finished June on budget with some set aside for property taxes I pay in July, but they have gotten so high the month will be a challenge.

Peeled off my gel pedicure myself and have not booked a haircut.

Recommitting to really using my Everydollar spending plan and recording all my spending and actually looking at the numbers and putting them together weekly. I can do this. . .

Tybee, I find that I don't have any problems tracking expenditures almost daily, then I realized that I don't actually look at them (because they are too guilt inducing, maybe?).

frugals: I was craving fish (as in take-out) then DD reminded me we had a couple pounds of tilapia in the freezer, gifted to us by a cousin who got it in his food pantry distribution. He hates fish so it came to us. Pulled it out, cut it into nuggets, dredged it and fried it up. It was delicious and free. And pretty easy, as dinners go!

Resisted the urge to drive around looking for yard sales yesterday, stayed home and priced/prepped stuff we already have for our antique booths. Saved gas and likely a coffeehouse stop. We always take coffee and snacks with us, but the coffee always runs out too soon.

That is exactly what I do, and why, I think--it just seems the numbers are always higher than I expect. It's like looking at those sample budgets that say things like $75 for electric, and then ours is $200.

Frugal lobster rolls! We had Mom and dear friend/caregiver over for lunch yesterday. We had bought lobsters cooked by Market Basket and shucked them ourselves. We were able to serve 1/4 lb lobster rolls at a cost of about $8.00 each.

Stayed home yesterday. Worked on a volunteer copy editing/proof reading project. It was too hot to do anything. The local diving hole was closed for the holiday anyway.

Did a second load of laundry this week vs buying more summer weight pajamas. We're in a heat wave.

I don’t like any of the budgeting apps for the simple reason that I budget per paycheck (15th and 30th) and I’ve not found one that allows that. I like every dollar otherwise

I'm happy a dozen eggs are back down to $1.20 [at my local Walmart]

I love frugal fried egg sandwiches [slice of cheese is optional.]

My brother paid $27 dollars for one at a restaurant downtown last month. At the county fair last weekend, they were $17, which is the best price I have seen.
    I'm impressed!
