    Suggestions for a simple purse?

I haven't bought a purse/handbag in a long time but want to ditch the old leather hobo style and find something small and hands free to carry just the essentials. Not a fan of cross-body bags with long skinny straps. Any other suggestions?

Oops sorry. Missed the part you don’t like crossbody bags.

Still check out Baggalini. Fab bags and worth every penny.

Maybe a fanny pack? They’re back in style.

I have one of those zip wallets/wristlets that also has a little snap pocket on the back that fits my phone. I pair that with a small backpack when I go to the store. It works great--I have the backpack filled with "stuff" including reusable bags, sunglasses, etc. and I keep it in the car for the most part, and just bring the little wristlet into the store with me.

Here is what my wristlet kind of looks like--it is Coach--I don't normally buy high-end brands, but I bought it at a steep discount while out with my daughter many years ago.

Example of small backpack--looks nothing like mine--mine is a cheaper, slightly larger LLBean one that I got on clearance for $13:

I don't mind shoulder straps if they are wide.

I have a rectangular billfold thingy that is long enough to hold my phone. I zip it up. I put it in my arm pit. My hands are both free.

There has been a rash of purse grab and runs here lately at places like Costco and Walmart. Advice was to find something attached to your body that isn't as easy to take.

When I need a bigger bag, then my billfold, I have a backpack.

OK, so Baggalini sells wide straps separately.

This is the crossbody bag I have, but there are smaller bags, too.

You do pretty much exactly what I do, except I can put my wallet on my wrist! I think it's a great system

I finally found a great little backpack/shoulder bag from Soul Studios (purchased very inexpensive at Marshalls), but can't seem to find it anywhere on the internet. It's approximately 7.5 inches high, about 6 inches wide and just under 4 inches deep. (I simply measured my full purse so could be slightly off - LOL). Anyway, the best feature is that the backpack straps are one continuous piece, so the conversion into a shoulder bag is by simply taking the strap at the top and pulling up. I know that may not have made any sense, so I've taken some pictures. LOL
