What are you watching 2024?

Haha! Well, I was rooting for the 49ers just because they weren't the team in the limelight. Great game, though.

I watched a couple of interesting movies:

The one that Paul Giamatti has been nominated Best Actor for: The Holdovers. Definitely a feel-good movie: a cross between A Christmas Carol and Mr. Holland's Opus. He did give a very good performance, although my son said that he was just being Paul Giamatti. Not sure that's a fair assessment.

The other one, Saltburn, is very ...well, interesting. I did follow it to the end. Themes of British social standing, obsession and deception with a little bit of erotica thrown in.

did we talk about Saltburn already on this forum? I can’t remember since I’ve been talking about on other forums. I forget where my brilliant words have landed, ha ha.

re-watching Detectorists. Such a sweet and funny show! And DH has a detector, although it's been a long while since he's felt like using it. So I can relate, without the Roman treasure.

I don’t think I watched the film but I can’t remember for sure. Now it’s in a position in streaming where I have to pay for it. I do love The Detectorists, just top-notch.

Has anyone begun watching "Monsieur Spade," on Prime or Acorn? Stars Clive Owen with some French subtitles. I find it mesmerizing. Such good acting, beautiful setting and the soundtrack/score is wonderful. Quite noir, in the style of The Maltese Falcon. I think Owen honors Bogey in his characterization of Sam Spade.

There are a lot of changes back to the past in the timeline as the series goes along. I can only watch one episode at a time, no bingeing on this. It takes some thought. Lots of moving pieces. But I find it so different and intriguing.

I own the DVDs and have watched the 3 seasons a few times. They can still put a smile on my face.

I like watching it when I'm having a tough time...it always pulls me out of it.

Having read Nights in Rodanthe, I just finished watching the movie. Book is DEFINITELY better than the movie. I didn't like how they had changed the story line overall. Liked the last 30-45 minutes of it and glad I watched it, but definitely glad I read the book first.

I thought the story line was very clever, and the character development was great.

We watched to first episode of Sight Unseen on CW. We'll keep watching. The main character is a going blind detective/cop and how she is coping.
