My rant is not being able to find simple non-scented products like dishwasher powder in a cardboard box. Trader Joe's just discontinued theirs which we have bought for years. Everything has a scent now - trash bags, dish soap, etc. I don't get it...

finding powdered soaps, laundry soap and dish soap, is becoming harder. They put those on the bottom shelf. I suppose they want to sell you the liquid versions which don’t last nearly as long to keep you coming back buying product.

I have started ordering home/cleaning products through subscription services. I get my TP from Who Gives a Crap, and I get some really great eco-friendly products from Grove.co. So I looked to see if I could find an unscented laundry detergent in a box, and Grove.co didn't have any, but I did find this: https://unscentedco.com/en-us/collec...0-l-refill-box

I make my own laundry soap, but wouldn't mind giving this a try. Wish it came in a cardboard box.

I've been buying Blue Water laundry strips. They do have an unscented version. https://trybluewater.com/products/12...iABEgLulPD_BwE

They also have unscented dishwasher strips, but I haven't tried those.

Friend who insists on still paying all her bills via check got one stolen. Check was washed and she lost a couple of grand. Still refuses to switch to online bill pay. Thinks she’s going to get hacked if she pays anything online. This is not a senior. I told her if she refuses to be sensible and pay online, then she deserves every penny she loses to fraud.

During my tenure as an accounting manager for a county government, we found check washing and the attempted electronic misuse of routing and account numbers was a particularly big problem for the checks issued to people being released from our jail (unspent commissary balances and cash confiscated at processing). For some reason, it was an especially prevalent practice of the “sovereign citizen” movement.

We combatted the problem by instituting a three part audit system with our bank. At the time of issue, we provided a list to our bank of the check number, amount and payee to check when clearing each transaction. In the case of exiting prisoners, we stopped using checks in favor of prefunded credit cards. They really hated that.

Financial fraud is a sort of continuing arms race that took up a huge amount of my time. It tended to make me a bit paranoid in my personal finances.

We are old people who don’t even have debit cards because I still get the impression they’re hard to control. We don’t need them anyway because the credit card works just fine.

I don’t store any passwords on Icloud for websites where I am able to purchase things such as Amazon, ebay, etc. and certainly don’t store passwords for financial institutions.

I don’t know what check washing is. It sounds like a way badnicks get into someone’s bank account.
