I save leftovers for making soup. This morning I pulled duck wings, chicken wings from the freezer, and the turkey wings that were in the refrigerator. I like wings. A lot. All were roasted and looking pretty darn wonderful. I used chicken stock for the liquid and had fresh onions, and some barely limp carrots and celery that I never got around to using.
Six hours later and it is the worst pot-o-crud I have ever tasted, and, trust me, I have made some really heinous meals trying to use up leftovers over the eons (an accurate calculation when translated into bad-marriage-years). Such a waste, and I cannot figure out what the problem is with that mess.
That was supposed to be lunch and dinner for the rest of the week. Rambutans are back in season, so I spent my extra grocery money on them, some lychees and a jar of seaweed when I was out yesterday. I guess those are my dinner, along with the leftover liver, until I can thaw some more bits from the freezer.
