    Wonderful cinnamon!

Has anyone else been annoyed at the poor quality of ground cinnamon despite the price paid?
I finally bought some cinnamon bark found at our Super Store by Loblaws chain and ground it fresh in my coffee grinder. It is wonderful, just the way I remembered cinnamon tasting and smelling years ago. Just passing along the suggestion.

    Anyone else tried the bark?

I get mine from Penzey's. They have both cinnamon and cassia (which is what cinnamon sold in grocery stores usually is).

I like Penzey's too. I just invested in a couple of big, sturdy manual pepper/spice grinders and was thinking of putting a mixture of coarsely chopped cinnamon and nutmeng, along with some allspice and cloves in one of them.

Hands-down, stick cinnamon is it, IMO! I spoiled myself a year and a little bit ago, and bought a high-quality/grade electric coffee-grinder, which I also use as a cinnamon-grinder.

Jane, love your manual spice-mill/grinder idea!

I have been using alot of cinnamon lately so I just get the big 4.12 oz jar of McCormick ... I heard that it was good for joints and had started to stir into my coffee but found it did not mix very well so I started to take about a 1/4 teaspoon and mix in with the dry grounds of the coffee before brewing and it comes out perfectly ---- I like the taste and I swear my foot joint pain is greatly diminished (been doing this about 6 months twice a day )

Cinnamon is reportedly excellent for inflammation, it possesses anti-clotting qualities, anti-microbial qualities, and has shown significant benefits in the way of controlling blood sugar levels.

I add it to my Oatmeal everymorning for this reason, I hope that it helps with my arthritis...

Gregg44. Next time you're out and about, drop in to wherever you buy vitamins/supplements, and check out cinnamon extract.
