+1 on the Penzeys source. I don't get spices anywhere else anymore, Penzeys provides much more fresh, flavorful products at decent prices, and has great customer service.

If you're ever in Portland, they have at least one retail store there.
I am a wee bit cinnamon dependent - just love the taste. I don't eat sugar and even though cinnamon is not 'sweet' it's delicious like sweet.
I also have it on my brekky muesli and have mixed it into my own 'good guts' sprinkles to put on top (LSA, psyllium husks, slippery elm bark in equal quantities + a bit of cocoa and a bit of cinnamon) - yum, yum!
Another Penzey's fan here. We laugh that until we discovered Penzey's spices we thought that black pepper just brought a bite to foods, and that paprika wasn't just for color on top of our deviled eggs and potato salad. REAL black pepper, and REAL paprika - who knew there was actual flavor, and such a wonderful variety of flavor notes, in spices?!!!
Back on topic, Penzey's China Cassia cinnamon is to die for. We don't use it all that often (don't do baked goods much), but when we do, wow!
May I never have to go back to store-bought spices ever again.
When I last contacted Penzeys, even they advised that it was not affordable so Canadians have to go a different route. Unless some things have changed.
Thanks for recommending cinnamon sticks! My husband has been using cinnamon in everything and it has brought his blood pressure down from "You must take medication" to normal.
I'd love to try this but am having trouble discerning between all of the warnings about one type or another being a big blood thinner. Some say it's cassia, some cinnamon, nothing's very black and white.
