Tumblr anyone?

I have been thinking of starting a blog for a long time, and am trying out a mini blog on Tumblr.
It seems really easy and fun, but I don't know if it will go anywhere.

Does anyone use Tumblr? It is super easy to put in text, photos, links, etc. I really like the interface.

Anything you don't like about it?
(Besides that there is quite a lot of porn on Tumblr, I've heard.)

I have an account, but I don't look at it much. Some of the content quality is excellent, but you have to screen out a lot of mid-to-late Millennialist angst to find it. It's like sorting for gold and about as fun.

I tried Tumblr, but mainly because I was part of a fanbase of a particular TV show.

I didn't really like Tumblr because it moved too fast. If you follow a person or two who is a heavy user, it seems your timeline is filled constantly. I find it a lot faster (more crap) than Twitter or FB, which I also use.

Tumblr also seemed mostly teens and 20s people, but that is all about who you follow probably. I need an old lady Tumblr. Like if there were a few of us there, that'd be okay.

For blogging, I still like my Wordpress (the blog host, not the website making software - they are things) and some people use Google's Blogger as well.

I have a Tumblr account ... which I rarely use. Maybe I just haven't seen the right Tumblr blogs, but it seems every one I looked at is little more than a spew of animated GIFs and blocks of pictures resembling Warhol's depictions of soup or movie stars. And, surprisingly, despite being a photographer, I don't find photos-with-captions to be an ideal medium for a blog. I had a WordPress blog for a while; if I were to pick it up again, I'd consider WordPress or even Joomla long before I go with Tumblr.

I would say it's more creating than sharing. Tumblr is pretty much an open blog platform/site which concentrates much more on pictures/videos than on text. From that perspective, many Tumblr-ers create entries to satisfy themselves even if they're never seen by anyone else. Kind of like "traditional" blogs....

Thanks Steve. Then it DOES sounds like what I'm looking for.
I am not looking for an audience; I really want something that is more like an online diary - as you said, kind of like "traditional" blogs.

I, too, prefer WordPress as a blogging platform. They all work, but I want the asynchronous timing of a WordPress or Blogger blog. I also like the fact that I can host several blogs under one account. It allows for more organization beyond categories and tags.
