    I agree that even if you never reach FI this program will help you have a much higher quality of life. Also you learn how to be frugal so you can survive the tough times too. I think it also encourages people to look outside the box and come up with creative ways to leave F.T. jobs and consider other options.

    My husband and I use it completely and became FI. We only work 6 months of the year and play the other six months. We decreased our spending and now have a sustainable lifestyle.

    I would like to become a coach. On the http://financialintegrity.org wiki page I saw a place to sign up, but it does not really go anywhere. Does anyone else here know how you can become a coach?

    The site's been in a bit of a lock down as we continue to clear out thousands of files left from electronic vandalism. (Hi, guess what I get to do. Delete, delete, delete.)

    As for becoming a coach;
    "New Road Map Foundation does not screen or endorse individual teachers/speakers/hosts, nor do they necessarily represent the organization."

    We're trying to encourage people like yourself to spread the word, which is also why the site also contains Instructor Guides. You are welcome to download them and see if they'll help you coach others.

    Does that help?

    Thanks tetrimbath for responding. What do you mean they do not represent the "organization"? Aren't we teaching about Your Money or Your Life?

    And I got the instructors guides and have been looking over them for months. I just have not started coaching yet because I was not sure if I was allowed to do so until I was "signed on." Does that make sense?

    And is it OK to do this as a webinar? Have coaches done that before?

    I am in my second month of applying the steps in YMOYL. It has been very eye-opening so far. Despite making and receiving extra money in December, I still spent about $20 more than I earned. That's OK, though. No shame, no blame. I am also looking at a job at my workplace that would increase my real hourly wage. The position isn't open right now, so we'll see what happens in the future. FI is a long ways off -- I only made $5 in dividends from my investment income in December. I'm not knocking it, but it shows I have a long way to go.

    What Tom meant was that NRM/FI.org does not employ or endorse specific instructors or coaches (at least not presently), but in addition to supplying the Instructor Guides, we also do periodically give train-the-trainer courses to share best practices with anyone who is "spreading the word". I have been thinking about offering a new train-the-trainer course this winter -- shall I put you on the list of prospective attendees? Anyone else out there? I have to figure out timing -- I am currently dealing with starting my winter session FI course this month (local community ed class). The train-the-trainer would take place over a weekend via video conference.

    Send me a personal message with your email if you're interested, any of ya'll.

    Congrats for being on the path, SD! What I found in following the steps is that" a long way to go" goes by very quickly if you're really motivated. The key is to set goals and actually do the steps (as opposed to just sort of acting in alignment with the philosophy -- I did that for 10 years after reading the book and managed to get myself into a load of debt until I finally started DOING the program.) You've got the right attitude, and that is the other half of the formula for success!

    Thank you! I'm super-motivated. I used the "debt snowballing" method for paying off my debts, and I went from owing 8 debts down to 5. If all goes well, I will be down to 3 in April and 2 in September. The goal is to be debt-free by 2017, and so far, everything is on course. I really want FI, though. There's something romantic in the idea of showing up to work because you want to and not because you're a debt slave. I'm crossing my fingers

    I think you are on the right path SD. Just keep working the steps & program. Some months will be better then others. If I had not done this I would have never owned my house outright and paid off my other debt. Of course there will be times when things will happen & back slide but the point is not to get discouraged, pick yourself back up and carry on. At 59 we are not totally FI but do not have to work F.T. and can be self employed P.T. This has been our life for the past 2 years and without this program we would still be wage slaves. Good luck!!!

    Thank you RoseFI I sent you an email through the forums, so you can send me an email back. I am really looking forward to hearing more about it and I can do video conferencing too.
