    Spring Tonic?

It's been the longest bleakest winter around here. Everyone I know is dreary and dragging. It makes me think of old timers and spring tonics. I don't have any nettles handy, (a traditional old time tonic) and the dandelions are sparse. Does anyone ever indulge in a revitalizing Spring tonic that they can recommend?

Funny you mention this as I was just reaching the same conclusion yesterday, that this would be the perfect time for a spring tonic, as we are both so incredibly fatigued and sluggish. I have not tried any yet but Vermont country store sells some:

    I think Lehman's does too.

Listen to some Bob Marley. Makes it feel like summer.

first thing I see is Oil of Oregano. I am taking that. Everytime I start to feel like I'm going down the sicky road I take some.

I've never gotten a fix off of Marley.
Bos Scaggs can do that for me...but I don't think it's a tune that I need.

Just looked up in "20,000 Secrets of Tea"... one of my favorite herb books.

Tonic Tea --- To strengthen your whole body for vital energy.
Eastern Tonics.... ginseng root, dong quai root
Western Tonics.... sage leaves, whole plant of rosemary
South American Tonics... suma root, yerba mate leaves

Like you Tiam, I have used nettles previously.

Herbs for fatigue include astragalus, ginseng, milk thistle, oatstraw, Pau d'Arco, rose hips, saw palmetto, slippery elm, suma, yerba mate

I would use any of the fatigue herbs. Also, says dandelion root is a spring tonic, to cleanse your body of toxins.
