    starting the job search

Okay today I started looking. The best fits so far are director of child care centers, Even that I would need to take 2 courses in early childhood programs. I looked at some teacher jobs even though I let my license go. Charter schools will still hire, but only one of those jobs in Denver. I found one afterschool director job that paid a LOT less than what I make. It may have less responsibility than I have. I know my district pays the highest and I am probably the highest paid in my position right now with my degree and years of experience. Also most of these jobs are only childcare and not the enrichment and club programs. At least we get paid now for the work load!

There was one that was administrative assistant in the department of human services/early childhood education. The top of the pay range is about $3K less than what I make. I am just making my bills so anything less would have to wait until my lease is up in May and I can find cheaper rent. There is a licensing specialist that pays very well, but is in Alamosa. That again is waiting until I am able to move (but not sure how I feel about leaving the Denver area when I have friends and family and meditation groups, seems like a depression trigger).

So that is where I am at, next task is to look at things like management that are not necessarily in my current field.

    Best of luck.

Make sure you check multiple places...not every job is posted on all sites. Also, this gives you a better feel for which site seems to fit your job classification best. When I was looking, I loved utilizing indeed.com. Store one resume, just click to apply, get a confirmation email - easy peasy. Ultimately, though, I found the job on craigslist. I found more "junk" listings in indeed... For example, I'd apply for job A, and there would be a reply that the position was filled, but I'm a good match for job B - of course paying much less and very entry level. Just keep trying!

Have you checked U of Colorado system yet? Childcare/teaching programs... if that is up your alley. UCCS has an opening for an Assoc Director.

Hey Pinky, so i checked it out. One of the ways i don't qualify is that i have done school age and this one needs early childhood education and work experience. I am seeing that in some cases. I would need at least 2 more courses specifically to early childhood, this job wanted 24 hours in early childhood. But the pay was actually listed and good, total bonus. it reminds me to check out places like universities.

Always apply for jobs that are close to what you are doing, IMHO. You don't know what features in your resume will trigger their interest and possibilities in other openings that are included.

Okay i had one other that was a stretch that i may apply for. I hear that is something men tend to do and women tend to stick to the rules more.

If they like you enough they may let you obtain the needed courses as a condition of continued employment. I have seen that happen.

I don't "get" Indeed.com. Years ago, I signed up for notifications and I was getting things like "cosmetic sales person at department store." I don't know if this was because the word "marketing" was in my profile or not. Maybe I don't know how to use the site properly.
